Anyone got any tips on where is a good place to live in the Frankfurt city area.

Contact details for good rental agencies and ideas on the amount to pay for a two room appartment.

Anyone tried buying a property in Frankfurt? Interested in buying a one or two bed appartment in the city with a view to letting after one year stay. Contact details for estate agents, details of the do's and dont's, tax implications etc. appreciated.

Thanks.

In Frankfurt itself, most locals would recommend Sachsenhausen for the proximity to pubs and restaurants. Bornheim is more affordable and still lively. Rödelheim is quieter but still connected to the U-Bahn system. I have one friend living in the West End area, and he really likes being close to the Goethe Universität. Another woman moved from Sachsenhausen to Offenbach to save money. The S-Bahn will take you to central Frankfurt in about 10 minutes. In Offenbach expect to pay around DM850-1100 for a one-bdrm apt around 65 sq m. That's not including nebenkosten.

hi

there are also more "upscale" areas outside of Ffm,
to the north in the taunus "mountains" (bad soden,
bad homburg, königstein). very good train conections.
prices tend to be upscale too - € 1000 - € 1500
for a 3 room apt.

prices are related generally to the distance
frankfurt city center.

we just bought a house east of frankfurt (15 km).
new house, 130sq.meters € 250.000,prices are much higher than in the US, don`t go into
shock. i had to sign a forum declareing that i
accept german law as to regress demands
that i might have with the building company.
otherwise fairly simple matter.

tax breaks for real estate in germany ?
YUP !!!
i´d need a couple hours though to
explain. complicated.

if you need any help please feel free to mail

scott
