Chocolate Chip cookies

Before I make millions of batches experimenting (which I will do, sigh, if I have to ;-) are there any Americans here in Germany who have made a successful chocolate chip cookie with German ingrediants?

I'm talking the soft, chewy, fluffy kind, of course (what other kind is there??). Mine come out flat and hard! Please post/email me if you've done it!
