Me and my girlfriend are moving to Berlin in September for a few months to take a break from Britain and I am writing to appeal to your good natures for any advice to make our move run smoothly.
I am a 24 year old artist with a lot of work experience in customer service, travel, retail and hospitality; I also hold a TEFL certificate. My girlfriend is a 23 year old musician. We do not speak German, although I speak some conversational Spanish.
Any and all responses to my questions would be greatly appreciated:
-How easy is it to find work in Berlin for non German speaking people? (Work does not have to be highly paid or professional, bar work is fine, I am also qualified to teach TEFL)
-Do you know of any online resources for English speaking jobs in Berlin?
-Do I have to obtain a work permit or apply for residency? (We are form the UK)
-What is the music/nightlife scene like in Berlin, especially around Mitte?
-Does anybody have any jobs for a hardworking artistic individual such as myself? :-)
Any and all help would be fantastic; I am really looking forward to moving to this exciting city.
