Buying from amazon.com

Hello,

Does anyone have experience buying electronics (laptop computers etc.) from amazon.com and getting them shipped to Guatemala?

I've heard stories that the Guatemalan customs withhold packages and require you to pay hefty import taxes (ie another $200-$300) in order to receive the delivery.

Does anyone have experience with this, or can provide alternative tips on ordering computers online?
