I can't speak from experience here in regards to Guatemala health care aside from dentistry, where they have a thriving dental industry some of which caters to tourists. But I have seen in Guatemala city that there are a range of private services operating, and the most impressive to me has been BlueMedical. They have a medical center at the very trendy little area in zona 4 called the Quo.
This area is also home to about 10 major towers, mixed residencial and commercial, La Torre (food store) and Smart Fit gym are there and several buildings all face each other with a lovely courtyard in the middle, many restaurants and an open air restaurant. I think the area is worth a visit if spending some time in Guate.
BlueMedical operates ambulances and I believe they have both medical clinics and hospitals here. I'm not sure of the costs, they might be relatively expensive... but all of their facilities and ambulances in particular seem very modern. I see other ambulances that sometimes look like they from a different era, and then BlueMedical with this fleet of brand new vehicles.
Their site is https://mibluemedical.com/blue-medical-para-tu-familia/

I'm a digital nomad from Canada. My first few years traveling were spent in Europe, first Spain, then Romania, Bulgaria. Since 2019 I've lived in various countries in Latin America, currently residing in Guatemala.

Hello there! I'm an aviation attorney, helicopter pilot & circus/aerial artist looking to relocate from SoCal to Antigua (or possibly Lake Atitlan). I have a nearly one year old daughter. My partner is an avid rock climber, hiker, and general outdoorsman. Now that I'm working remotely full time (thanks, COVID!), the world is my oyster and I've convinced my partner that we should look into living in Guatemala. He's agreed to 'try it out' for 6 months, but I'm hoping that he will fall in love with the country as much as I have. I've spent a bit of time in Guatemala, mostly at Lake Atitlan, Antigua, and around Tikal. I'm really looking for genuine community - to show my daughter that there is more to life than what you find here in the US. In order to convince my partner that Guatemala is the place for us, I'm really looking for 4 things - 1) affordable, quality childcare for our daughter; 2) lots of challenging outdoor activities (rock climbing, hiking); 3) an avid aviation and circus communities (which I know exist) for my own happiness & peace of mind; and 4) quality, reliable healthcare.

I have been married to my husband from Guatemala for 42 years. I have never been but we will be going to visit the beginning of next year. We will be looking at considering moving there. Too many issues in the US. I would like to find out more about how to handle retirement payments that we receive monthly, health services, best areas to live, affordability, etc. He has a family home in the good part of Zona 18.

Digital nomad, who's lived in many countries in Europe and one in North Africa. After a year back in the States, I'm considering the Latin Americas. I love the mountains (cooler weather), remote places off the beaten path, meeting people, and adventures in new places.

My son was adopted from Guatemala in 1997. I am just wondering what life would be like for him if he moved back. He would probably live in an expat community as he only speaks English.

I am exploring the idea of retiring in Guatemala. I was born there and have visited twice. I found the life there to be one that I could benefit in in many ways.

Hello,
I recently purchased a home in a small community outside of Antigua Guatemala and am in the process of re-locating. I currently run an international NGO focused on women's health and rights and recently stepped down as a Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore Maryland. I am a young 60 years old and look forward to many years living and working in beautiful Guatemala. I first worked her as a volunteer more than 30 years ago.
