Moving to India?

Hi,
I have always been interested in moving to India. I have visited, only briefly, but loved it. I have traveled many countries in the world, and honestly like the lifestyles in those countries much more than my own in the United States.

Has anyone relocated to India from the US?
How easy is it to acquire a visa?
About how much did it cost?

I need more logistical information such as this so I know whether it is even possible for me to make the move.
