Live in Santa Cruz?

My husband and I are considering moving to Mumbai. His office would be located in Santa Cruz. Is that a good area to live in? Or would other places be more suitable? Also, we have two dogs and I would like to know if there are any areas I could walk them?
I'm a mum of a 7-months old boy and would appreciate any tips and advice about living in Mumbai - how to meet people (specially other mums), good places to walk/run, things to do, cost of living/groceries, etc. Thanks!!!
