Questions asbout Ramadan

Any opinions would be appreciated!

I have lived in a mainly muslim area of Sydney, so I am aware of what goes on during Ramadan and how important it is to be respectful, muslim or non- muslim.

However, next week, I am moving to Amman to be with my fiance and his family. I will try to observe this holy practice, however, I am currently on medication and need to take it with food. My fiance's family is not overly religous, but they do fast for Ramadan. Would it be offensive to eat just a little or perhaps drink some water during the day in their house?
