I am a 21 year old male, returned from Iraq in Nov, and got out of the U.S. Army recently. I decided while I was in Iraq(especially after losing a few closest friends) that I would leave the military, take advantage of the education benefits I had earned, and be the first member of my family to get a Bachelors degree(at the least).
But(there is always a BUT) a part of me grew very interested in Arab culture while living amongst the people on a patrol base in Baghdad(despite the many attempts on my life by Iraqis who didn't feel the same). So I (very contradictorily) also told myself *IF* I had the opportunity to work in the middle-east again, I would take it.
Now here comes the problem: I applied to work as a security officer for CSA Kuwait a couple months before separating from the Army. Did ALL the required paperwork, physical, drug test, security check, etc. Then waited. Got out of the Army last month, didn't hear from them. Took a little time for myself and visited some places of importance to me around the country..still nothing. Came home to my family, finally, and not a word. So I decided it wasn't meant to be and kept it moving, went and got into the whole college thing..so now I'm supposed to start school May 14th(haven't payed yet). Then out of nowhere they email me "you got the job, your scheduled date of departure is May 1st, contact us ASAP". I'm thinking "what the ????".
Now for the questions: has anybody here worked for this company, in the job that I would be working? Do you get a chance to experience Kuwait or are you working all of the time? Any chances to take some schooling? How is the money? How is the job itself?
Anybody familiar with this company or this situation, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
