Networking...

I am a single African-American female about to relocate to Kuwait. I am a vet and was a military wife so acclimating is not a problem for me... I just like to know what I am up against!
From reading, I plan to join a gym and travel... naturally shop but I am wondering if there is any networks of single american women... female vets, vets or African Americans? Also, I don't hear much about entertainment on the military installations- are there any? Are military personnel even allowed off the installation?
Oh, I plan to branch out and get to know other cultures but I need a place to start.
