Single South African guy moving to Kuwait

Hi all...I see you all are very helpful on here, i just accepted a job offer in kuwait and like most im a bit in the dark about a few thing...like someone asked what do people do for fun? is the alcohol thing really that bad? I mean cant you even get it from a hotel???? Are people generally friendly...like how would i meet new people? as I am aware there are no 'formal clubs' etc...travel from Kuwait to like Europe...is that reasonably cheap or relative to the rest of the world? anyway...hope to get some response... thank you for your help...ps. there anything I should know/be aware of?
