I spent 3,5 hours on an uncheduled tour of Kuwait - not sure what suburbs - but I saw a Port, the Airport and even eneded up on an unpaved road.
This was not planned - I just wanted to see where No 16 would take me instead of No 15 - trying to get to Salmiya.
Some Tips:
Try for a seat near the back - the higher ones are closer to the airconditioner vents.
Just becasue a bus is going one way does not mean it's going to continue in that direction - they can U-Turn and take you off somewhere else. I.e the obvious method of correcting a wrong bus - is to catch one going back in the opposite direction. Just don't get impatient like moi and grab anyone!
Take something to drink -have a bunch of 100 Fills.
Oh - about that high seat at the back - try for one that you are not so high that you cannot see road and highway turnoff signs ahead.
Try for a window on the RIGHT - you can catch glances of the Bus route numbers on signboards at bus stops as they flash by - handy for seeing which ones come back this way!!
I personally prefer islamic music to indian muzak on the bus......
If the last people on the bus are fishermen or labourers - get off and catch one with someone in a suit on it - he is either going to a business area - or will understand some english - thank heavens for ties!!
Those water stands on the side of the road are great for splashing your face ...
Never carry more than one item - put EVERYTHING in one bag so you can leap off when you have to ..

Has anyone tried to go out on those fishing boats yet - i', wondering how much to offer just to get the real day ... DO THEY RETURN TO THE SAME PORT THOUGH !!!
