I am a South African born, but living in the UK. I am contemplating accepting an offer to live and work in Kuwait in 2010. Naturally, I am keen to understand what I am getting myself into. The things I would like to know are:
-are there many Western expats?
-any South Africans?
- as a single guy, late 30's, how easy is it to meet others? Obviously I would like to meet women, but also to make a network of new friends
-I am an IT sales person - any other western expat IT sales folk in Kuwait?
-what social activities does one do in Kuwait?
-what is the business environment like ITO language, culture?
-what is the accommodation like?
-do you need a car?
-can you get access to western clothes/food etc
-what are the comms networks like - TV, mobile, broadband?
-do you need to learn Arabic?
-safety and security?
If anyone reading this could offer any insight, I would be extremely grateful.
Many thanks,
Nick
