I have been advised to install Skype before heading to Kuwait. What other softwares should I consider installing in order to fully use my computer for communicating back home while in Kuwait?

I have read that the cable programming is limited in terms of western based channels. Will I be able to access hulu, western media outlets, or a net based movie subscription? How about downloading ebooks?
