Tangiers

I would like information on buying an apartment/home in Tangiers. I have heard that outside the tourist areas (more where the locals live) a few thousand US dollars could get you a nice property...even having one contructed. I see a lot of European companies advertising real estate and the prices match this market, but I am having trouble finding local (meaning prices that reflect what a typical Moroccan could afford) online. Any help would be appreciated.
