COLON, PANAMA

I am considering perhaps relocating as an expat to Panama later this year.I am now a young 64 and looking into the possibity of opening a small restuarant with a good Panamanian friend of mine that lives with his family in the city of Colon.However,i have heard noting positive,except from him,about anything cocerning living there,ect.
I realize that it has it's problems and often referred to as "the black sheep of Panama".Also i know it is where the Trade Free Zone is located.I figure there must be some sort of up side or meaingfull future.Especially with the Canal Zone under going improvements,ect.
Anyone here live in Colon or have much knowlege besides the negative aspects i would appreciate your input!
