Living condition expectations:
*we're comfortable with living on oatmeal for breakfast and rice/raisins for lunch/dinner
*we'd like to find a 1 to 2 bedroom place to rent, doesn't need to be fancy but running water would be a plus :)
*we don't buy gadgets/clothing/luxury services
*we're interested in improving our surfing, yoga, and gardening skills
My girlfriend and I will be headed to Panama in September (2011). We're planning on staying and exploring the country and possibly finding some work teaching English. Here as some questions that we have that we'd appreciate some local feedback about:
1. We're hoping to be close to the ocean but not completely away from civilization. We prefer to stay on the pacific side closer to Costa Rica. Which region/city should we establish our 'home base' in?
2. What is the best way to find an apt to stay in for 2-3 months? Are there things to note about renting in Panama that differ greatly from the US/Europe?
3. Are there possibilities to find language work in areas that are not in bigger cities? Possibilities to find other work?
4. Anything else that would be useful for us to know/think about?
