Euro vs. Dollar

Not everyone here knows I live in Panama, but work in Maryland. I'm often gone for weeks to a couple months at a time. But I still get world news via internet and Military newsletters. This little blurb came in last night from my "News of the Force" news gram:

Panama's leader tells Merkel he wants to adopt the euro ...

Panama would like to introduce the euro as legal tender alongside the U.S. dollar, President Ricardo Martinelli told German Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday during a visit to Europe. "In Panama, the currency in free circulation is the American dollar, and I told the chancellor we are looking for ways for the euro to become another currency of legal circulation and to be accepted in the Panamanian market," President Ricardo Martinelli told a joint news conference with Merkel in Berlin.

I haven't seen a local rag in weeks, have the locals heard this yet?
I can't even imagine going back to the way it was shopping 20 years ago when Panama routinely accepted neighboring countries $$ as a form of payment. The waiting in lines were horrible while waiting for the cashier to calculate the exchange. The lines are even worse today in some stores ...

I see USA vs PC friction coming soon
