Retirement

Am looking at different places to relocate. I have a dog that I care for very much. After checking into Costa Rica, I became discouraged to learn about the deadly ticks and poisonous snakes. Now I'm looking at Santa Fe, Panama. What concerns, if any, should I expect for my dog. This would be a total leap of faith for me. I am a single 52 year old woman and would be doing this alone and on a a retirement of $1200.00 a month. Any suggestions on different areas that might be best? Keeping in mind that I'm not a "city" person. Thanks
