Las Tablas

We are planning to visit Panama in October. Since we live in high Sierras Mammoth Lakes California we would like to be close to the beach somewhere around Las Tablas. We are on a budget any recomendations for afordable housing, car rental, suggestions on where to stay will be greatley appreciated. We like to stay away from big cities. Please help.
