Hundreds of tourists who wished to enter or leave Panama at the common border with Costa Rica, in the West of the country, were upset by the poor conditions they faced when stamping in or out of the country and having to present their documents.

Tourists of various nationalities said that they had to wait for more than seven hours to be seen, because there are only two staff members working, and the computer system was failing constantly, or crashing.

"The computer system is cayo", it is what they say every minute, said Jasmine Castillo of Costa Rica, very upset by the long waits.

"There are no bathrooms, we are crammed like animals in these long rows, with very poor care and lack of personnel to speed up the process," said Ana Lorena Madrigal, a Costa Rican who said she had been waiting since five in the morning on Saturday.

An American, who said he was "very annoyed, upset and angryā€¯ said that it leaves him with a very negative impression of Panama.

At the border crossing the 2 officials on duty, said that they do not have the authority to give statements.

Yes they said that there were problems with the internet and the long rows of people were due to the many tours entering and leaving Panama this past Saturday.
