Exploration Trip - Must dos?

Hi! I'm traveling to the Coronado/Gorgona area and Pedasi next month to check out for a possible move in a year. I'm planning on checking out supermarkets and stores, driving around the towns and neighborhoods, checking out things to do, talking with locals (as much as my non-existent Spanish skills will allow) and meeting with ex-pats in each area. What else can you suggest? If you made a similar visit, what was helpful and what, if anything, did you miss? Thank you!!
