a tricky question

Hello,
My husband and I will be in Panama the 2nd half of March to gather information for a possible move to there. I have been reading the blogs and forum for the past few months and find most of the posts informative and some hilarious.
One of the reasons we are even considering moving from Texas is to get away from the decisiveness of the current political and religious culture. This topic is not addressed on many blogs or forums and would like some thoughts from current expats. Please make your response respectful, in no way am I looking to stir up a tempest.
