Pensionado Visa Recertification?

In my research on the documentation requirements for the Pensionado visa, I happened across a website (which I can't find again) that mentioned after one successfully climbs the giant mountain of red tape needed to qualify for the visa... there is some kind of annual recertification process to prove that you're still receiving the lifetime pension?!?! Say it ain't so! (And, if it is alas so... how much paperwork is involved in recertification? Is a lawyer required?)
