VA Direct Deposit

After many years of simply using my stateside bank for direct deposit, and then transferring when necessary ... I'm now thinking of having my VA direct wired down here. That said, it seems the VA doesn't like the SWIFT number instead of the normal routing number. Anyone else have issue with the SWIFT code vs the normal numeric routing number?
