Is Arequipa a good retirement option and what are the pros and cons?

Hi, I'm due to arrive in Arequipa in mid September for some volunteer work and to continue with Spanish studies. I'm currently in Cuenca and am on this continent with a view to retiring somewhere over here in the next few years having tracked south through Colombia and ending in Argentina. I'm English born though live in Hobart. Cuenca is nice though I have some reservations over the cool temperatures here and the traffic in town along with the pollution it brings. Any information on the pros and cons about living in Arequipa would be great. Thanks all
