To move or not to move?

Hi there,

This seems to be the only reasonably active group of expacts in Poland. I hope someone will respond to my question--to move (back) or not to move?

I was born in Poland but have lived in the U.S. for the last fourteen years. My American husband and I have just started considering on whether it would make sense to move to Poland or not with our two-year-old son. We would want to buy a house near Warsaw, and he would continue running his Internet buisness, which I hope would be enough for us to live on.

However, I'm still not sure if I should do it and if my husband, who only saw Poland a couple of times for a week or two each time, would be able to adjust.

Are there any Americans here who live in or near Warsaw? Is there any American community in Warsaw that meets from time to time? What was the hardest thing (besides language) to get used to when you moved?

Any comments and responses are appreciated. I'll forward them to my husband.

thanks

If your husband has only been there a few times, perhaps you guys should try to spend a little more time there. Perhaps, either through this board or some other forums, you can get to know some Americans living in Warsaw. I would also consider contacting the US Embassy in Poland and they might be able to provide some contacts. I have talked to some of the folks in the embassies and they are usually quite helpful. I am an American and my wife is Polish and we will probably move to Poland but probably in the next 10-20 years, depending on finances. I am an ex-Army officer so I am hoping they move the bases to Poland so I could more easily get a job as well as have a small American community around. I look forward to hearing other people's thoughts.
Ramon
