US Prescriptions

My wife and I are planning on spending a years or so traveling in and out of Europe, starting in Spain after the first of the year. She has to take some basic blood pressure meds, and we were wondering if we need to try and bring along a years supply (if that's even legal), or if the local pharmacies will fill her prescriptions? Also what about other EU countries? ie Portugal or Italy? Thank you for your replies.
