I'm on a budget and would like to know of the most cost effective ways to live in Spain. I like the idea of a small town but close to a larger city for the culture, shopping and food.

Good morning,
I'm in the same boat.
Do you need to work?
Will you need transport, do you have a car?
Will that be expensive to run.
I'm relocating to Spain too however I'm initially choosing Tenerife to start with.
I'm happy to share thoughts on the matter with you,
John.

Not sure what country you are moving from, but I'm in the US and googled that the cost of living is 123% lower in Spain. I plan to do away with a vehicle and many other "modern day" costly complexities.

I'm looking at the same reasoning as arabell2022: Be in a place (Valencia, in my case) where I won't need a car thanks to excellent public transportation, lower my monthly costs for rent and medical insurance by around ~67% compared to suburban Boston, and enjoy the most annual days of sun that I've experienced since living in Arizona!

Fortunately, my pension more than covers the minimum for the Non-Lucrative Visa, so instead of going into red numbers every month I'll actually be able to save for "a rainy day!"

Now it's just a question of sitting (im)patiently waiting for the consulate to tell me to come and get my visa!

I currently live in British Columbia, Canada. I’m retired, don’t need a job. I’m flying in to Barcelona in April to start my exploration. Any suggestions for walkable towns?
