Netherlands residency

Can anyone provide information on what I need to do and what documents I need to apply for residency in the Netherlands? I plan to relocate in October 2005. Also, i see a lot of references to "apostille" for documents. What does that mean and how do I obtain that documentation? Whart documents do I need to show financial stability and income from the US? Any help/info would be appreciated.
