Salaries in Amsterdam v. Toronto Canada?

Hello,

I am considering moving to Amsterdam to work for a few years and was wondering what level of salary I would need to maintain my current lifestyle in Canada. I have not been able find any good information on the cost of living. I've found some that suggest Amsterdam is only 8% more expensive than Toronto but I find that hard to believe. Other sites indicate I should receive 1cdn$ for 1 Euro compensate for the cost of living but I don't know if thats too high?

Monthly rent for a 1 bedroom apartment in a reasonably nice neighborhood seems to range from 1200 to 1700 euros.

Does anyone have any thought/advice/information they could provide me with?
