Does anyone have knowledge about this area west of IZMIR ?
Availability of rentals and cost of living ?
Would this be a safe area for a retired American ? As far as I understand there many very reasonable but nice areas to live; is this area one of them ?
I would appreciate advice from anyone with knowledge of this area.

Thank You

hi there, izmir, urla, alacati, cesme, are one of the best places to live in turkey, because of popularity, it is more pricier than other places in turkey, as an alternative to that, fethiye, kas, kemer, kusadasi should be considered. safety wise izmir area is very safe but in general turkey is a very safe country, people are very friendly and helpfull. good luck.

Thanks ulucan2007,
I appreciate that.
Kusadasi looks very nice and not too far from the area I was looking. Are rentals easily available in Kusadasi and what does a nice 2 bedroom go for there ?

How much would you say is a realistic price per month to rent a furnished one bedroom for a month or 2 until getting more familier with area to decide on more long term ? And how much is a fair price to rent long term per month ?
We are not interested in run down apartments; must be updated and clean.

Thank you

Nice area especially in Spring and Fall. Summers are hot but seaia there. Very close to Greek islands with ferry service. Street food is cheap. Very close to Izmir and an internetional airport.
Rent is $200-$500 depending on size and location.

Consider also Urla. Better pricing and closer to Izmir.

Myself and my girlfriend are looking for new friends. I can help you to find a place and you can stay with us until you find a place. I am a Turkish American from Delray Beach,FL. A college professor, 52,

Thank you for your generous offer and info. Very much appreciated. Just realized your posting now; not sure how that happened but I apologize .
Still doing research and trying to find best place for us but realize we have to physically visit a few places to find out in Nov./Dec when we get there.
We are leaning towards Kusadasi but that can change when visiting different places later this year.

Thanks again
