Daily living cost + renting(?) : need experienced input

What would the approximate cost of living in Dubai on a monthly basis, minus rent (i.e. food and normal, reasonable expenses).

I've looked at real estate sites and apartments are listed for values such as Dhs 45,000. What is does this figure represent? Purchase price, rental (monthly, semi-annual, yearly)?

What would be a reasonable yearly salary on which a person could save a few dollars?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
