Moving to Dubai

Hey People, Irish lad moving to Dubai at the end of July and I'm seeking some advise on living situations,transport etc.

I will be working out by Jebel Ali Free Zone (south), I would prefer to live close enough to the city and i am willing to share accommodation. In relation to transport would i be better off renting a car or using public transport?

All advice much appreciated.
