In the Netherlands, home births are quite common, but you can choose to give birth in a hospital or birthing center if you prefer. Discuss your birth plan with your midwife, including your preferences for pain relief and other aspects of labor and delivery. Prenatal classes are available and are a great way to prepare for childbirth and parenting. They can also be a good way to meet other expectant parents in Arnhem. Register your pregnancy with your health insurance company to ensure all your medical costs related to the pregnancy and birth are covered. You should also register your baby with the local municipality within three days of the birth. This is usually done by the father or partner, but if they can't do it, the mother or someone else who was present at the birth can register the baby.
