What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Rabac?

Answer this Question

We asked people in Rabac if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!...

"In Rabac, it's considered rude to rush a conversation or transaction, as Croatians value taking their time and building relationships. Avoid discussing sensitive topics such as the Yugoslav wars and the country's political situation, as these can stir up strong emotions. It's also considered impolite to refuse food or drink when offered by a host, as hospitality is a big part of Croatian culture. Don't wear revealing clothing in religious sites like churches, and always greet people with a firm handshake and direct eye contact. Lastly, tipping is customary in Croatia, so not leaving a tip in restaurants or for services can be seen as disrespectful," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Rabac, Croatia.
