What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Morne Rouge?

Answer this Question

We asked people in Morne Rouge if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!...

"In Morne Rouge, it's important to respect local customs and traditions. Avoid wearing revealing clothing, especially in religious or traditional settings, as it can be seen as disrespectful. Public displays of affection are generally frowned upon, so try to keep affectionate gestures private. It's also considered rude to take photos of people without their permission, so always ask before you snap a picture. When dining, it's customary to use your right hand for eating, as the left hand is considered unclean. Avoid discussing sensitive topics such as politics or religion, unless you are very familiar with the person you are talking to. It's also considered impolite to refuse an invitation to someone's home, and if you are invited, it's customary to bring a small gift. Finally, punctuality is not highly valued in Grenadian culture, so don't be surprised if events or meetings start later than scheduled. However, as a visitor, it's best to arrive on time," wrote a member who made the move to Morne Rouge, Grenada.
