What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Southampton. They wrote...

"Expats in Southampton often find the high cost of living to be a significant challenge, as the island is one of the most expensive places to live in the world. The slow pace of life, known as "island time", can also be difficult for those accustomed to a faster, more punctual lifestyle. Additionally, the limited availability of goods and services, due to the island's isolated location, can be a source of frustration. Some expats may also struggle with the local dialect and accents, making communication a challenge at times. Lastly, the humid subtropical climate, while appealing to some, can be uncomfortable for those not used to high levels of humidity," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Southampton, Bermuda.
