"The status of women - despite equality being spoken about, it's clearly not reached everywhere and every strata of the society. I've been harassed in Delhi and here in Mussoorie, and the fact that as a white woman I'm stereotyped, and thus don't feel safe walking alone, is awkward. Wearing local clothes and speaking some Hindi helps, but not always enough," said another expat in Mussoorie, India.

"Expats in Mussoorie often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture. Many locals speak Hindi, which can be difficult for expats to understand. Additionally, the local customs and traditions can be difficult to adjust to, as they are often quite different from those of the expat's home country. Furthermore, the climate in Mussoorie can be quite extreme, with hot summers and cold winters, which can be difficult to adjust to. Finally, the cost of living in Mussoorie can be quite high, making it difficult for expats to find affordable housing and other necessities," wrote a member who made the move to Mussoorie, India.
