Organized crime groups are present in the city, contributing to the crime rate. However, it's important to note that the local government and police force are actively working to reduce crime and improve safety. They have implemented various measures, such as increased police presence in high-crime areas and initiatives to tackle drug trafficking. Despite the crime issues, many parts of Bucaramanga are considered safe and the city is generally safe for tourists, especially in areas where tourists frequent.
