As a foreigner living in Comayagua, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Comayagua if they have access to public healthcare in Comayagua. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"Yes, as a foreigner living in Comayagua, you will have access to public healthcare. However, it's important to note that the quality of public healthcare in Honduras may not be up to the standards you are accustomed to in your home country. The public healthcare system in Honduras is often understaffed and underfunded, leading to long wait times and a lack of certain medical resources. Many hospitals and clinics lack modern equipment and the ability to treat complex medical conditions. Additionally, not all medical staff may speak English, which could pose a communication barrier. For these reasons, many expatriates living in Honduras choose to use private healthcare or travel to their home country for serious medical issues. It's also recommended to have comprehensive health insurance that can cover medical evacuation if necessary," commented one expat who made the move to Comayagua, Honduras.
