What are medical services in Windhoek like?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Windhoek, they replied...

"Medical services in Windhoek, are relatively well-developed compared to other parts of the country. The city has several public and private hospitals, as well as numerous clinics and medical centers. Public hospitals provide basic healthcare services, but they may be overcrowded and face shortages of medical supplies and equipment. Private hospitals and clinics generally offer higher quality care, with more specialized services and better facilities. However, these private facilities can be expensive, and many locals and visitors opt for medical insurance to cover the costs. Pharmacies are also available throughout the city, providing prescription and over-the-counter medications. Despite the availability of medical services in Windhoek, more complex medical procedures or treatments may require patients to travel to South Africa or other countries with more advanced healthcare systems," remarked another expat who made the move to Windhoek, Namibia.
