"A lot of people have been employed in the refrigerator business a couple decades ago. One of the major Lithuanian refrigerator makers called "Snaige" was situated in Alytus. Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt not too long ago and many people were out of a job. The job industry is weak here. In the current economic crisis there is great competition for a simple cashiering job," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Alytus, Lithuania.
"Foreigners often have jobs in Lithuania in the fields of IT, engineering, hospitality, teaching, and business. They may also work in the service industry, such as in restaurants, hotels, and retail stores. Additionally, many foreigners find employment in the healthcare sector, such as in hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies," commented one expat who made the move to Lithuania.
