Minimum income to retire in the Bahamas?

Hello, I am a 55 year old government employee who will retire with a pension. I also have some savings. I have always loved the Bahamas and dream of retiring there, but the cost of living is quite high. I have looked into other destinations that are attracting American ex-pats like Panama, Ecuador, etc., but I don't really want to live in a third world country and I'm not sure I want to learn another language. Could anyone tell me honestly what the monthly cost is to live in the Bahamas? My needs are simple -- I eat lots of fruits and vegetables, little meat, and don't have to live in a mansion. Thanks!
