As a US national returning home after Christmas I regretfully leave my Colombian fiancee in her home. As I am not old enough to draw on my pension yet (54 years old) I am exploring ways of being with my fiancee until we can obtain a visa for her. After our marriage in Colombia in April we are still looking at maybe two years due to the backlog. This is not acceptable to me. Without abandoning ship here in the US as I have everything paid for home and vehicles the like and returning here in the future I am searching for ways to spend my days with her in Colombia. How is mail handled with respect to important documents such as real estate taxes, excise tax for bureau of motor vehicles, filing end of year taxes wih the govt? Looking to rent out my house as well. Any suggestions?
