move to Colombia

After visiting Colombia on several occasions I find myself wanting to relocate, maybe only a year at first on a trial basis before I decide to completely decide to abandon ship here in the US. The thought in of itself is a daunting task. It is not like moving to the next city here. The culture and ways of doing things is totally different there. I have searched for an archive of previous posts which could potentially help me but have found none so I will start to ask. I plan to use my existing property as rental income since I am too young to draw retirement. How has one dealt with mail here for important documents? Can a potential tenant " for deposit only" a rent payment into an account set up by me without being able to withdraw from the account?
