A quick question to see if there are fellow members who are better informed than me regarding the Colombian Government policy regarding the EPS system and the latest closures situation.
According to my wife, Sura EPS is under threat of closure based upon Sura´s warnings they will have to shutdown on October 1st unless the government makes good their cash and capital needs. Our maid´s daughter works for Sura and informs us she does not know if she still has employment 2 days from now.
I am concerned as I feel most locals and expats should be. Already, a good number of the EPS´s have closed with Sura and Sanitas bearing the overflow, so what will happen if Sura shuts down….will only Sanitas be left to cope with the entire Colombian population?
I do understand Sura may be making idle threats with a view to forcing the government´s hand, but ¨perhaps¨ and ¨maybes are something we could do without.
