Hi everyone, I have been on here before regarding the fact they denied me a renewal of my Digital nomad Visa due to the fact it was of ‘ no interest to the Colombian goverment’…. I am. 63 years old and have had a Colombian girlfriend who is 49 years old for 18 months …. I was going to go for a long term partner visa but said to my girlfriend it would be easier to just renew the nomad visa and that would give us plenty of time to get all the necessary documents and proof of our relationship…….Well in the end because of the visa denial I flew to Panama for 5 days and returned vía Bogotá as there were no director flights that day to get a 90 day tourist stamp…. I paid more for a flight that transferred my baggage as i didn’t want all the hassle of transferring my own.
The day before i received an email from Avianca airlines that the connecting flight had moved forward an hour …. Not delayed … moved forward…… which left me 50 minutes to get through Customs at Bogotá …..so I paid extra for a ticket at the front of the plane from Panama to get to customs quickly which when i got there the queue was a Mile long ( 5am ) .. I went straight to the front and explain to some very nice people in the queue who let me through…
Passport control guy asked me why I’m here ….. As a tourist i replied …. Stamped my passport and i went through……
Back in Apartado where i am living with my girlfriend beacause of her work contract …after a couple of months i got the passport out to apply for an extension online…….The visa company i had used prior advised to apply 10 working days before…….apply too early and you won’t get it apparently!,!
I looked at the stamp made the agent at the airport had made …..but he hadn’t written 90 days …… So my girlfriend phoned the migration office …..
I had to send an email explaining what happened with prooof of the wrong stamp….. which was a stamp for a visa …..not a tourist stamp !
They replied saying i have to go to the Medellin Migración office bringing the letter printed and my passport…..
So i flew to Medellin ( the bus jorney is 7 hours from Apartadó)
I got a new stamp till the the 10th October…..Back to Apartado and applied for an extension……..After 5 days sent a reply saying that all the documents we emailed …didn’t come through……. But it was not possible with the link they sent us back to send the documents……It just wasn’t working …..and my girlfriend teaches computer systems so i knew it wasn’t working ……
Sent a new application….. They replied that i have to go the Medellin migracion office with all my documents…….
My girlfriend and i flew to Medellín.
I booked a proof of exit plane ticket ( which they require ) for 31st of December…because i know it is only válid in one Calendar year.
They stamp my visa available until 8th January……2026
So now I’m totally confused …….. If i return on tourist visa which i intend to do will they give me 90 days and can i get the full 90 days extension?
Is someone up there trying to tell me Colómbia doesn’t want you Lawrence? !!
I would appreciate a reply as i just don’t want to talk to the migration office ( my girlfriend i mean )
