In any case, the article starts off by explaining what my friend Mitch said this morning--that most people who have not been there view Nicaragua as dangerous and Costa Rica as safe. He then offers statistics on crime rates, size of the police force, prison population and such that show that Nicaragua is paradise.
He also points out some interesting facts on pollution (for example, Nicaragua only treats 35% of its sewage but Costa Rica only treats 5%) that shows that Costa Rica is doing a much better job of marketing their environment than Nicaragua but it really just that--marketing.
Anyway, a good read. I highly recommend it--if not for you, for your concerned friends and loved ones.
