Permanent residency

When being assessed for permanent residency from temporary residency, SIRI are looking for gaps of 6 month in residency. Such a gap will be deducted from your qualifying period apparently. I I worked abroad as a cross border commuter e.g in Germany for a week at a time would this be OK and not affect my total time in country?
